NEW FAMILIES FAQ's
We use an automated computer check-in system to help keep things organized, but more importantly, safe and secure. At your first visit you will be asked for your child’s name, age, grade and any important details their teachers should know about. You’ll get a key-tag which makes future check-in a breeze. After checking in your child, you will receive a parent pick-up tag which you will need to keep and show to your child’s teacher after service in order to pick them up. This ensures that no one, other than you or people you approve, can take your child.
The kids all start together in the worship room, and they will be with other children Kindergarten – Fifth Grade and our Children’s Ministry Volunteers. Prior to serving in Children’s Ministry, our volunteers go through an application and interview process which includes fingerprinting and reference checks. Our volunteers take their position very seriously and your child’s care is their utmost concern. The volunteers supervise the children during welcome, worship, and story time. After story time, the kids split into individual classes with 1-2 volunteers per class. This volunteer will stay with your child until he or she is picked up. Female volunteers accompany Preschool and Kindergarten children to the bathroom in groups of two or more, and 1st-5th grade children go to the bathroom in groups of two.
Parents with babies and toddlers should provide a cell phone number at check-in for contact during service. This number will be printed on your child’s name tag. Parents should put their phones on vibrate, and our staff will send a text if a parent is needed during the service.
We serve snacks during Thursday night and weekend services. Many times our snack even correlates with the story in some way! We strive to provide snacks that kids enjoy, but are also made with organic and natural ingredients. If your child has any dietary restrictions or allergies, please notify the check-in volunteer, and your child’s class volunteer will be informed as well as a note added to your child’s name tag.
Our curriculum, The Gospel Project, has many resources for parents to continue Biblical learning throughout the week. Each week, your child will complete and bring home an activity page. That activity page shows the week’s story, Biblical reference, key passage, and also includes family discussion questions. The curriculum also offers an app that you can download on your Apple or Android mobile device. This app pairs with the weekend’s message and gives kids an opportunity to play games. complete puzzles, color, memorize the key passage, and even re-watch the story video. The activity page will show which unit and session we are on that week, which will correlate with the mobile app.
