Weekly Devotion #5
Has this long Covid season and the desire to get back to normal, the drama surrounding the presidential elections and the transition, rumors of wars, crazy natural disasters, potential famine, civil unrest, reports of pestilence and Christian persecution, made you weary and distracted you from the loving arms of your first love and the peace and joy that surpasses understanding? If so, you are not alone! Brothers and sisters, be encouraged today. Today, is the perfect time to press into God’s word to seek His truth for today and forevermore. Through reading His word and spending time in prayer, we allow Him to fill our cup with His living water until it overflows in abundance (John 4:14). With that abundance Christ calls us to pour that life giving water into others and to build them up to do the same (Matt 28:19). As we do, we can be steadfast in our firm foundation in Christ, weather these storms and further the Kingdom for His glory! Please be encouraged with this passage from 1 Thessalonians 5:
“For God has not destined us for wrath, but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore encourage one another and build up one another, just as you also are doing. We urge you, brethren, admonish the unruly, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with everyone. See that no one repays another with evil for evil, but always seek after that which is good for one another and for all people. Rejoice always. Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. Do not quench the Spirit. Do not despise prophetic utterances, but examine everything carefully, hold fast to that which is good. Abstain from every form of evil. Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely, and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.”
May the Lord fill you to overflowing as you spend time with Him and seek His will!
Blessings to you!
